Cabins aboard the Oasis of the Seas

There are 3 main types of cabin categories: interior, ocean view, and balcony. Then there are dozens of different room categories within each type. Here are picture reviews of an interior, a balcony (where we stayed on this sailing), and a suite. There is a noticeable size difference in each. Please feel free to message me with any questions.

On this sailing we were located on deck 8. We found this location to be perfect for our family! Central Park is located on deck 8 and in addition to all the nice dinner restaurants (for a fee) there is a quick service restaurant that is included in the cruise fare and open for breakfast and lunch. We are not morning people and having a child that uses a wheelchair, it gets frustrating fast when you have to wait for an elevator every single meal! So, if you like not having to hit the stairs or the elevator to get to a food venue, this is the deck for you! We also found it to be a quiet deck, even with the large Central Park Garden area. There were a few character meet and greets on our deck too.

Interior Stateroom Cabin on deck 8 #8679 Category Q The smallest cabins are always the interior. According to Royal Caribbeans website, category Q is approximately 150 sq. ft.

The bed can be a king or two twin size beds.

View from the bed toward the hall and bathroom.

Like most major cruise lines they provide a hair dryer for your use, and like the other lines they aren't that great., it usually takes me double the amount of time to dry my hair when on the ship. On the Oasis of the Seas, I had to hold the button in the whole time for it to work.

All the cabins have metal hooks on the back of the bathroom door to hang stuff.

Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony
on Deck 8 - cabin #8678 Category D4 is approximately 182 sq. ft. with a 50 sq. ft. balcony.

Daytime set up of our cabin. This is day 1, so of course it looks nice and clean, the kids haven't jumped across the bed yet!

It was obvious that the beds were pushed together to make one. Thankfully it was a bump and not a dip in the center, but I felt like I was sleeping alone because of the divide it made in the bed. Oasis of the Seas, did not put a luggage mat on the bed for us to unpack, nor did they turn our sheets down nightly. Not sure if it was our cabin steward, or the whole ship. Our family has gotten used to our sheets being turned down, a towel animal and chocolates on our pillow every night from the other cruise lines, and we definitely noticed it not happening on Royal!

If you use a C-Pap or Bi-Pap a complimentary gallon of distilled water will be in your cabin when you arrive, just make sure your travel agent notes it on the reservation.
Your folio can be viewed on your TV, as well as information such as dining venues and activities going on-board the ship. We learned on the second day that the crowd capacity listed on the tv was not very accurate!

My Royal Caribbean Representative sent us a bottle of wine and my wonderful sister sent us some gifts too. Always exciting to get a surprise when we board!

The balcony was decent in size, with 2 chairs and a table. Either side is set up for staff to unlock the screens so you can connect balconies with friends and family that may be sailing with you.

The port of Ft. Lauderdale is not very pretty to look at from the ship, thankfully the view improves as soon as you exit the port.

There was a tiny little shelf close to the door and then a magazine/book rack below it, which was worthless. It was enough to stick our key cards and glasses on, but that was about it...

The shower stall is VERY small. We all hit our elbows off the walls when showering!

They try to offer this nice bar at the bottom to put your foot when shaving your legs, but the shower stall is so narrow it doesn't make the experience much better. There are no usable drawers in the bathroom, just 3 small shelves up top and then the shelf space where the toilet paper and towels are.

Grand Suite with Balcony on deck 8 Cabin 8654 Category GS
Approximately 371 sq. ft. with a balcony of 114 sq. ft.

Nice large sitting area with a sofa that pulls out to a full bed.

Large bar/mini kitchen area. Plenty of counter space for everything! Storage cabinets are located in this area. In the closet of suites are 2 robes for your use while on board.

There are two sets of doors to your balcony. Both connect on the outside.

Nice large vanity/desk area.

View into the room from the balcony doors near the bed.

One side of the balcony has loungers.

The other side has 2 chairs that are nicer than the standard balconies and it comes with a wood top table. The balcony is approximately 2 regular balconies together if you are trying figure out the size.

Hair dryer is small and not very strong, but is stored in the drawer near the vanity. The suite has a make up mirror too! As well as a curtain to separate the bed from the rest of the room, which is fantastic if you want privacy from the rest of your family occupying the cabin.

This cabin offers a connecting door to the neighboring cabin if you are traveling with multiple parties.

Closet space in the bar area. Lots of space and nice floor to ceiling mirrors! Standard cabins don't have the full mirror or a fraction of the storage space that the suites have.

Suites have 2 robes in the closet for your use while you are on board.

The bathroom door is to the right as soon as you enter the cabin.

Plenty of counter space, with cabinets and drawers in the bathroom.

Full size bath tub!

You even get double sinks in the suites!

Pack and Plays are available upon request. They do provide a sheet, but most parents of the littlest cruises prefer to take their own. The biggest downside of using a pack and play in the cabin is the amount of space they take up! My daughter uses a small pediatric wheel chair and we constantly trip over that in the cabin, I can't imagine the amount of space the pack and play would take up. Just something to think about! This would be the same on all cruise lines.

  1. How was the noise in 8679 being so close to Dazzles? Thanks

    1. We never heard noise from the lounge there. They also had music at various times of the night. Many private events are held here as well.
It truly is my FAVORITE deck for many reasons.

  2. We are considering GS8654. You mentioned a "pull out sofa" then a "pull down bed for the 4th person". Does that mean there are 3 beds total in the room? (King master, sleeper sofa, and a 3rd pull down bed?)

    1. The Grand Suites do not have a pull man bed. It is a full pull out sofa that will allow 4 in the cabin.
