Disney Magic versus the Disney Dream

I am an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner with 15 years of experience as a travel agent! I've sailed on all 4 Disney Cruise Line ships, as well as many other lines, and I can tell you from first hand experience there are major differences between the Magic and Wonder versus the Dream and Fantasy that you need to plan your next vacation. Here are some differences that can help narrow down which ship you want to sail on next!

Water Slide
Both have similar slow moving twisty water slides. No real comparison here! The Magic was  higher and stretched out a little bit more than than the Dream but they both moved about the same pace. The yellow water slides closed at 6pm every day on both ships.

Toddler Splash zones (diapers permitted!!)
Disney Magic ~ splash area for all.
Disney Magic
The Magic (above) had a nice splash zone but the Dream blew it out of the water with Finding Nemo! Sprayers, a rain wall, a little mini water slide... With only 1 entrance/exit (plus a latching handicap accessible door with a very high step over...) makes this a winner for those in diapers that can't get in the pool!

Aquadunk vs: Aquaduck!
HUGE difference here. The Aquadunk is a straight drop! You stand in a circular structure, the clear top closes around you, and then the floor disappears! My son was terrified after his first ride and the line was never very long. The Aquaduck was tons of fun and the height requirement is a little lower. The speed is similar to a fast moving lazy river and even better you can ride a two person raft! The view is pretty cool too.

Animator's Palate
Again, I am amazed at the differences! On the Magic we loved watching the screens start as black and white sketches and change to color as the night went on. We also loved that Mickey came parading through at the end of dinner! Below shows the picture that we made on our second night in Animators Palate on the Magic. These are collected with your order and during dessert the screen comes to life with everyone's drawings! This was our favorite dining experience with the family! They gave these back to us at the end also, which made for a nice keepsake.
Disney Magic
Like the toddler splash area on the Dream, the dinner at Animator's Palate is Nemo themed. Dory plays a game with the fish and lets everyone guess what the picture is. A few times during dinner Crush came out and talked to guests and made comments to get everyone chatting over dinner. It was a neat experience, just different from what they do on the Magic.
Disney Dream
Magic versus the Dream bedding.
On the Magic the bunk was made up with normal linens throughout the entire cruise, but on the Dream things changed on the second night of our sailing! One had Cars and the Other was Princess themed bedding. It was a nice touch to our wonderful cruise and the kids, even though older, still thought it was neat. We also like the ceiling above the pull man bed, it was covered in Stars!
